Quiz #2

Here's the next quiz!

Whose hand is this?

How to win: first correct tag

Eligibility: anyone except those who were there (you know who you are)

Have fun guessing! (should be easy, though)

Edit: Not counted! Due to my carelessness. Sorry sorry. =x Next time will be more careful...

Quiz #1 is now over!

Answer:

This time, no one got it correct...
Some people actually guessed the correct answer but didn't tag. Now, read the criteria/condition again =)

Try harder for the next quiz!

updates

okay, a couple of things. or maybe more than a couple.

1) NJ Impromptu Storytelling Competition: a huge THANK YOU to Mok, Mainak, Yin Wei, Lin Xin, You Jie, Ha, Shu Ling and Jiang Jing for signing up. Thanks for being so enthusaistic and helping our house! Go Solaris!

3) Council Elections! I think Mok already posted something about this but vote Vanessa, Mok and Albert for the 41st Student Council! So many of you never support your dear classmates at Campaigning Central. Sigh. Last chance on monday! Then we can do the naga hey naga ho cheer on the stage! Haha we did that today and the stage was shaking like mad. Wahahaha. SOLARIS ROCKS :D

08s19 Finance Company Pte. Ltd.

Yup, I got this blog re-vamped a little. Changing the atmosphere to a more relaxing one. I hope. Anyway, there's a couple of things here which I would like to address (very formal sia today)

1) Class Fund. Everybody (except FAS & Mainak) bring $80 on Monday for class fund.
Breakdown: $45 for KM
                      $19 for Physics Book.
$4.85 for Notes which are overdue
$11.15 for More Notes to come

*Those who cannot afford such a lump sum at once, the treasurer came up with 2 plans
=> Plan Weekly: Pay $20 per week for 4 weeks from 31st March to 21st April
=> Plan Monthly: Pay $40 per month for 2 months from 1st April to 2nd May
Please note that a maximum of 3 can apply for the Plan Weekly and 5 for Plan Monthly (Interested applicants just tell the treasurer on MSN or whatever way)

2) Election of Secretary: Have not suggested to Mr. Low, but we (most likely) need 1 to co-ordinate the class better (message relay) and also keep track of important dates and events. In classes, the secretary is needed to know who is absent and for what reasons too. Huge responsibility.
Election of Econs-Rep: We need 1 soon.

3) Author for this blog are welcomed. Who wan to become 1 just tag on the tagboard with your name and that email account.

放下干戈,从新开始。Yup, Together Everyone Achieve More (TEAM, adapted from Floorball Captain) So for the greater good of 08s19, we shall put down our differences and work towards a common goal. It may sound "theorectically perfect and practically impossible" but everything is impossible until someone made it possible. So here, I shall apologise (for all reasons) to everyone and anyone from everyone and anyone, including myself who do very irresponsible stuffs, in the hope that everyone can FORGIVE AND FORGET, and eventually reaching our own goals. Another quote from floorball captain: If u are in a team and no one give up on something (which can be work, responsibility and building mutual-friendship) u have no right to also give up. And also, there is a reason why "United we stand" is more important than "Best in J1". To whoever still reading blogs and comes across this (Mr. Low and HCBoy), have a goodnight sleep. The next day will always be better. Best wishes from ME!!!

Song Dedication #1

Got inspiration from some table in school xD

And yes, real JC life is starting (or has just started) and we will go through this together =)

----------------------------------------------

We were strangers
Starting out on a journey
Never dreaming
What we'd have to go through
Now here we are
And I'm suddenly standing
At the beginning with you

No one told me
I was going to find you
Unexpected
What you did to my heart
When I lost hope
You were there to remind me
This is the start

Life is a road
And I want to keep going
Love is a river
I wanna keep flowing
Life is a road
Now and forever
Wonderful journey

I'll be there
When the world stops turning
I'll be there
When the storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you

We were strangers
On a crazy adventure
Never dreaming
How our dreams would come true
Now here we stand
Unafraid of the future
At the beginning with you

Life is a road
And I want to keep going
Love is a river
I wanna keep flowing
Life is a road
Now and forever
Wonderful journey

I'll be there
When the world stops turning
I'll be there
When the storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you

I knew there was somebody somewhere
Like me alone in the dark
Now I know my dream will live on
I've been waiting so long
Nothing's gonna tear us apart

Life is a road
And I want to keep going
Love is a river
I wanna keep flowing
Life is a road
Now and forever
Wonderful journey

I'll be there
When the world stops turning
I'll be there
When the storm is through
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you

Life is a road and I wanna keep going
Love is a river I wanna keep going on....
Starting out on a journey
Life is a road and I wanna going
Love is river I wanna keep flowing
In the end I wanna be standing
At the beginning with you.

English is a Crazy Language
From: Charlie Indelicato

Let's face it -- English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant
nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins
weren't invented in England or French fries in France. Sweetmeats are
candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.

We take English for granted. But if we explore its paradoxes, we find that
quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is
neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.

And why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't
groce and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the
plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? One index,
2 indices?

Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend, that you
comb through annals of history but not a single annal? If you have a bunch
of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call it?

If teachers taught, why didn't preacher praught? If a vegetarian eats
vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? If you wrote a letter, perhaps
you bote your tongue?

Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum
for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and
play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that
run and feet that smell? Park on driveways and drive on parkways?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and
wise guy are opposites? How can overlook and oversee be opposites, while
quite a lot and quite a few are alike? How can the weather be hot as hell
one day and cold as hell another.

Have you noticed that we talk about certain things only when they are
absent? Have you ever seen a horseful carriage or a strapful gown? Met a
sung hero or experienced requited love? Have you ever run into someone who
was combobulated, gruntled, ruly or peccable? And where are all those
people who ARE spring chickens or who would ACTUALLY hurt a fly?

You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house
can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out
and in which an alarm clock goes off by going on.

English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the
creativity of the human race (which, of course, isn't a race at all). That
is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are
out, they are invisible. And why, when I wind up my watch, I start it, but
when I wind up this essay, I end it.

Inspiration #1

Forgot where i found this. IF I manage to find the source, I will credit it.

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill (note). In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. "Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air. "My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who LOVE you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by who we are and whose we are. You are special- don't ever forget it."

Count your blessings, not your problems. And remember: amateurs built the ark ... professionals built the Titanic. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Pass this on, or otherwise you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it can bring. =)

Enrichment Week

hey everyone, this was posted like two hours ago on KM, and it's pretty important. and annoying as well. and just in case some of you dont check km.

ATTN: CANCELLED ENRICHMENT COURSES
Students please sign up for other courses. The following courses are cancelled.

AE 6 - PAPERWEIGHT
AE18B - Re-Re Literacy (Class B)
HF 7 - Learn to Bowl (Replaced with manual registration on Notice Board)
HF 11A & 11B - Fencing (Replace with manual registration on Notice Board)

and i know quite a number of us signed up for bowling and fencing so we have to do something about it. don't ask me why they cancelled and replaced it with manual registration. seems pretty screwed up to me. because of this i'm 8 hours short and i dont know if there's a change in time or anything that i'd have to adjust my schedule. i think it's the same for all of us, this is so frustrating. i just hope the classes aren't filled yet, because it'll be pretty stupid seeing that we check KM at home and we can't go back to school to sign up.

anyway good luck everyone, hope you guys can get the courses you want. :)

and tomorrow is PAYMENT DAY. from 9.30-11am, and 12.30-4pm, in the atrium. Please remember to bring CASH/CHEQUE/EDUSAVE FORM.

and i thought enrichment week was supposed to be fun, not stressful.

A LOVE LETTER FROM MATHMATICIAN

My Dear Love,

Yesterday, I was passing by your rectangular house in trigonometric lane. There I saw you with your cute circular face, conical nose and spherical eyes, standing in your triangular garden. Before seeing you my heart was a null set, but when a vector of magnitude (likeness) from your eyes at a deviation of theta radians made a tangent to my heart, it differentiated.

My love for you is a quadratic equation with real roots, which only you can solve by making good binary relation with me. The cosine of my love for you extends to infinity. I promise that I should not resolve you into partial functions but if I do so, you can integrate me by applying the limits from zero to infinity. You are as essential to me as an element of a set. The geometry of my life revolves around your acute personality.

My love, if you do not meet me at at sunset, when the sun is making an angle of 160 degrees, my heart would be like a solved polynomial of degree 10. With love from your higher order derivatives of maxima and minima, of an unknown function

Some dumb letter which will appeal to U, accelerated mathematicians. Anywayz, happy birthday ZhongLi.
